Locating Faults in Communication Fiber Optic Cables in Gas Pipelines Using DAS

In a project to locate faults in communication fiber-optic cables in Daxing District, Beijing, the client used YB Photonics’ DAS modules and a laptop to quickly pinpoint cable faults on-site.

Project Process

1. The customer brings YB Photonics’ coherent attenuation-suppressed DAS all-fiber demodulation module (portable) and a laptop to the equipment room.
2. Connect the optical cable.
3. On-site staff tap the soil with a hammer.
4. Observe the signal using the software provided by YB Photonics to locate the breakpoint.
